since some of you know i am restoring a 51 ford deluxe i figured id show some progress.

not much has been done in the last 7 months or so, but i am slowly getting her going.

last weekend i cleaned the inside out (became a collect-all lol) got the front brake line bent and pulled the master cylinder out from under the floorboard.

also got the engine bay all one color.

heres what it started like

and heres after 2 cans of flat black.

and since the grill is in bad shape chrome wise, i painted that as well, no grill shots yet though.

gotta wait till next week to get the mc rebuild kit and then it will be going back on. and then going to be doing the rear brake shoes and packing the bearings at the same time.

after that im going to pull the dash and start some simple wiring.

need to save some money to get the block work done. but thats eaiser said than done lol.

anyway figured an update was in order.

wow i have not been here in awhile, life has been hectic.

again i have not gotten much done since my last update. still have not gotten the mc rebuild kit.

i did some work this weekend on it tho. i pulled the dash finally, hooked up the brake hoses to the wheel cylinder, and piddled around cleaning the garage. the dash was my main objective for the weekend tho.

anyway i may be putting my 350 in it for awhile. my truck is not going to last much longer i think, so probally fall im going to pull the engine/trans and get her going.

had to take a break from working on the house. ill start another thread with what im doing to it.

well the engine pulling came sooner than i thought, we got it done today. took 9 hours to get it out of the truck.

I need to replace a few gaskets and am going to degrease it and repaint it to the chevy orange that was on the blocks.

going to drop it in until i can get the 289 going. After I get the 289 in her, I will give the 350 to my dad to put in his '58 Delray.

Ill get pics of the engine tomorrow, im beat and about to crash right now.

Just a few quick shots of it on the stand for now. mowed the yard and had to go buy paint for our basement, plus being sore as hell doesn't help lol. so i just took it easy the rest of the day.

lol. Yes it will be getting cleaned up and repainted to the chevy orange.

I will get some better shots of it next weekend as im going to be painting/working on the basement this week.

The list of stuff to do to get her driving is the following.
Rear brake lines
POR-15 the gas tank to seal it up. (pin holes)
new gas line
Rear brakes/wheel cylinders(have just need to get time to put on lol)
Wire the car
Rebuild the master cylinder (acutally i may just use the mc off the truck because i want to eventually convert it to front disc brakes)
Tires
Radiator

BTW, im going to send off for historic tags soon, thinking of going personalized.

I have 6 characters+ a dash,space,or apostrophe. Throw out some suggestions.

How does rollin' sound for a plate.

or ol'black, rydn'hi, blk4me (it is a black car isn't it?), laz.lif (lazy life), hom'run, blkfrd, st3reo, pdkbom, knot4u, quk2go, 8strate, fun2bme.

I'm done. It's late.

Keep going with the project! It will be great to see it driving before your winter sets in. I know that winter will make it harder to do things on it (daylight)

dude looking good, you should just spray the engine bay with black bedliner coating after a good ol' scrubbing. then you won't have to rip anything out when you go to paint it later on. trust me, I am in that boat with my 94 aspire.
